I purposefully took over a full week to process after such an incredible event. It was beautiful, but it was also draining and stressful. Proof to me that there is never anything worth having that wasn’t difficult to obtain. The process from planning to conception was a rollercoaster of anxiety until a trusted voice in my ear screamed to me, “it’s not about you”.
I realized that this event wasn’t meant to impress people, but to deliver a message. Our message, as simple as it could be, was to love yourself and keep the faith. This book illustrated all the circumstances, trials, and tribulations that I struggled with for years growing up. It was the hard times that showed me who I was and it was surviving those time that transformed me. I talk about my stint with addiction, my experience with sexual abuse and neglect from my family, as well as how much the people closest to me affected my self-esteem and the decisions I made. This book is meant to showcase how easily we can get trapped into trying to please the people around us. This book discusses living in our purpose and how not living in our purpose, can make life difficult and hard. I want to save some young women (and young men) from doing some of the reckless things that I’ve done. I want to encourage people to love themselves and use their current blessings and God-given talents to change their lives and those around them positively. I want to help someone see the value in their life and how their purpose is greater than they can imagine.
With the help of some hard working people from all over RVA, I was able to make my dream of writing this book and delivering it to the public, an amazing reality.
Here are some of the pictures from the event….
I’m excited! We are working with some local non-profits and community organizations to ensure that our message get outs to our city’s youth and their families. It’s a blessing to be in this position and I can’t wait to see what else God does in all of our lives. Please be sure to subscribe and follow us on this journey, and even connect with us to become a part of our mission. We are Flawesome because God Don’t Make No Junk!
